Cosmic Impacts

The 2004 quake in Indonesia that spawned that devastating tsunami had the energy of 100 gigatons of TNT. That’s the equivalent of 2,000 of our biggest nuclear bombs. Volcanoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis can wreck havoc over huge areas. But even our mightiest natural disasters on earth don’t have the destructive power of cosmic impacts.
