DESCRIPTION

Between July and September every year, the single largest gathering of Asian elephants on earth occurs around the man-made Minneriya Lake in Sri Lanka's Minneriya National Park. Conservationists are using this unique opportunity to study how Asian elephants behave in the wild, and trying to find a way for man and beast to live in peaceful co-existence so that this Great Elephant Gathering will not be overwhelmed by the needs of a developing nation.
