As the interest in documentary programmes is rappidly climbing National Geographic Channel have decided to extend the daily transmission. As of June 1st NGC will be showing programmes 24 hours a day.

The viewers can expect a lot of exciting programmes in the morning. The incredible series ”In the Womb” take the viewers into the hidden world of foetal development of both humans and animals. Using State-of-the-Art 4-D Ultrasound, see the remarkable development differences in identical twins, triplets and quadruplets etc.

In the series ”Hooked” National Geographic Channel reels in the summer with ravenous Flesh-Eating Carnivores, Fish with Human-Like Teeth, Stingrays the Size of Buffalo and a Conservationist on a Mission to Protect Them - See the Amazing Encounters of Man and Megafish.

In the evening the programmes cue up to get out to the viewers. “Dive Detectives” is a present tense series that moves beyond the waves…in which much of the drama takes place above the waterline. Each hour builds from a genuine mystery and has an active, unfolding narrative. Stories include war, crime, piracy, treasure, and archaeology: Cold cases are re-opened, loved ones laid to rest, and goods both lost and stolen are rediscovered in dramatic, action-packed shows featuring real people and real life missions and unfolding in gripping actuality. What would happen if … we had a world without oil, population overload, an earth that stops spinning or a expanding sun? National Geographic Channels new series “Aftermath” test life on earth’s ability to survive in extreme conditions. ”Aftermath” premieres Tuesday june 1st at 22:00.

National Geographic Channel becoming a 24 hour channel is a natural result of that the channel wishes to be available for the viewers at all times. In the future the content of the channel will be more localized and give the Swedish audience exactly what they want. These new steps also means that even more premieres will be available all through the year. Popular series like ”Locked Up Abroad” and ”Air Crash Investigation” return with new episodes.
