Street Genius is back with a second series. Tim Shaw is obsessed with science & he wants to know how everything works, so he's taking science to the streets, to the pubs, to the clubs - anywhere there are regular people - to find out why things do what they do.
EPISODE GUIDE
Street Genius: Falling, Floating & Feasting
The man they call the Street Genius, Tim Shaw, shines the spotlight on some incredible science as he tests the sticking power of glue, the kicking power of a rocket boot, the mystifying properties of dry ice, and what happens in a head to head between humans and hotdogs.
Street Genius: Pedal To The Metal
Tim Shaw invites us to guess the outcome of his outrageous experiments, as he tackles the intense white heat of magnesium, the strength of car components and the winning qualities of increased muscle power, in Street Genius.
Street Genius: Shattering Conclusions
The explosive qualities of hair products, starting fluid, and the oxygen we breathe, are exposed in spectacular style by our street science specialist Tim Shaw. Even toughened glass can't resist the impact of Tim's experiments, in this shattering edition of Street Genius.
Street Genius: Pressure Cooker
The man they call the Street Genius introduces us to the incredible truth about why things do what they do, with the help of a cross bow, a water heater put under intense pressure, and roller blades as you've never seen them before.
Street Genius: Shooters, Showers & Shockwaves
Why do things do what they do? - that's the question Tim Shaw the Street Genius, puts to baseball pitchers, poolside revelers and passers by as he shoots at targets from a moving vehicle, attempts to inflate diaper bags, fills a regular car tire to bursting point, and reveals some surprising science behind helium filled balloons.
Street Genius: Blow It Up
Tim heads to the desert with a bowling team where he makes an extraordinary proposal - he wants to fire a 5 kilogram bowling ball clear across the desert using four unusual substances for fuel. Next, Tim heads to a restaurant to reveal how everyday cross-the-counter indigestion antacids work. With the help of a staff assistant, and some diners to guess the outcome, Tim shows us how exactly our body gets rid of heartburn. At an indoor parkour course, Tim demonstrates how fast a golf ball will go when fired from an air-cannon. To make things interesting, Tim has rigged a watermelon target with a large explosive charge that will go off if the golf ball makes contact. At the façade of Caesar's palace in Vegas, Tim has one man drinking four drinks out of four straws from heights between 2 metres and 6 metres. What's the science behind drinking liquids out of a straw? Grabbing some thermite, which can reach temperatures over 2200 degrees Celsius, Tim is determined to see what happens when extreme heat meets extreme cold - with some explosive results.
Street Genius: Blasts, Fire & Beers
At a Vegas scrap yard, Tim meets with some site workers who will help him send a giant cable spool crashing into a car. At what angle will the rope holding the spool need to be fixed in order to send it spinning toward the car? Next, Tim invites visitors to his workshop to guess what happens when you light a flame on a spinning platform - creating a fire tornado. A true Brit, Tim heads into town for a cup of tea. But this is no ordinary tea service. Tim has created an extended spout on his kettle with a ring of copper, and reveals what happens when heat is applied directly to the cloud of steam released from the ring of copper. A pair of keys are suspended high above the ground. The challenge? What is the fewest pieces of wood needed to make a platform to reach the keys? The answer will leave you dumbfounded. And finally, Tim is ready to detonate black powder in four different contents - water, air, sand and a partial vacuum. Which of the four explosions will contain the biggest blast?

Street Genius: Human Cannonball
Standby for some sensational street science as Tim Shaw chooses a junkyard to show us some of the mysteries of gravity, and dabbles in some chemistry to see if an everyday item can provide the fuel to fire a (nearly) human cannonball.
Street Genius: Postiviely Shocking
There's an emphasis on destructive forces as street science guru Tim Shaw invites us to witness the crushing power of a steel blade, the force of a shotgun, and explosive action of a man-made lightning bolt, all in the name of science. Can you guess the outcome as Tim takes outrageous experiments out of the lab and onto the street of Las Vegas?
Street Genius: Pedal To The Medal
Tim Shaw invites us to guess the outcome of his outrageous experiments, as he tackles the intense white heat of magnesium, the strength of car components and the winning qualities of increased muscle power, in Street Genius.
Street Genius: Master Blaster
Tim Shaw takes us into the sensational world of street science as he demonstrates the incredible truth about the world around us. On a tour of Las Vegas, Tim sets off fire extinguisher rockets and finds out what happens when a person gets vacuum packed. Next he puts a boiled egg through its paces, and then introduces us to an extraordinary liquid that we take completely for granted, before travelling out of town to set off a truly massive, earth-shattering blast.
Street Genius: Crash & Burn
Tim Shaw takes us into the dramatic, fascinating, unpredictable and entertaining world of street science. With car-crushing cinder-blocks, how to stop a 1000mph bullet from a magnum, a hovercraft put through its paces and a gas tank fireball, stand by for an exhilarating ride in this edition of his street science roadshow.

Street Genius: Shock & Awe
Tim Shaw, the man they call the street genius, takes us on a road trip to show why things do what they do. He asks which gas-filled weather balloon will give the biggest bang, what happens when water pressure matches up against a steel tank, how many rubber bands can be stretched around a water melon, and which weird rocket fuel will be the most effective. Plus how to quench your thirst - with a chainsaw!
